I started knitting a new scarf last weekend. It’s a lacy pattern. My goal with it was 1. to have a scarf, and 2. to learn to read charted patterns. So far I’ve made more mistakes than I usually do and got lost in the charted pattern more than I thought I would. Charts are very common, so it makes me wonder why I’m so bad at reading them. Or maybe they just suck.
So I gave up after having to rip out two rows and wrote the pattern out. I can see that the whereas the chart took up 1/3 of a page, it takes up a full page when written out. Well, I’ll stick with what I know for now, since I think it’s actually the easier way.
